MUSIC PROGRAM

ABOUT THE MUSIC TEACHER

  Ms. Lindsay Zimmerman is a graduate of The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, were she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance, as well as a Master's of Art in Teaching.

In grades K - 2 Ms. Zimmerman uses the Kodaly and Orff techniques in her classroom, teaching her students to sing together and play instruments together. Students also use movement to learn and express musical concepts.

In grades 3 -4 students begin to learn soprano recorder. Students learn to read and write rhythms and musical notation, and play together as a group.

In grades 5 -8 Ms. Zimmerman combines writing and history to expand upon the students' music learning. Students also continue to learn music theory, notation, vocabulary, and musicianship concepts, furthering their musical understanding.
