SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Third Trimester in Music Class

8th Grade

8th Graders will be finishing work on Baroque Composers and the Baroque time period in Music History, and then moving on to learning about liturgical music within the Catholic Church, while continuing to explore concepts in music theory. 

7th Grade

7th Graders are continuing to learn about elements of music, and begin the third trimester strengthening their music reading skills in both treble and bass clef. Students will continue to learn the elements of rhythm and style as the year progresses. 

 

6th Grade 

6th grade will be expanding their knowledge of rhythm, note, and rest values this trimester. Students will also study the signs and symbols of music as the trimester continues. 

5th Grade 

5th graders have become experts on musical instruments, and continue to broaden their knowledge of symphonic, jazz, and popular instruments. Students will continue to explore musical concepts such as note reading, rhythm writing and performing, and solfeggio syllables. 

3rd - 4th Grade 

Students in 3rd and 4th grade continue to practice their recorders and are steadily improving. Students will continue to expand their knowledge; learning new notes, mastering rhythms and rests, and continuing good recorder technique. 

2nd Grade 

2nd graders continue to explore music through singing and movement. The Dalcroze method is used in this year to instill musical concepts through eurhythmics and patterns. 

1st Grade 

1st  will continue to learn through the Kodaly method this trimester. Students will learn handsigns to help create pitch memory for learning future songs as a group. 1st grade will also continue to learn musical concepts through singing folk songs and movement. 

 

Pre-K and Kindergarten

The youngest grades continue to learn about differences in music, such as high/low, loud/quiet, and fast/slow. These grades learn songs through movement, while interacting in a positive space with their peers.
